Jonathon moved from Brazil to the UK in 2017 and enrolled on an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programme to improve his English skills. Upon completion of his ESOL programme, he studied a degree in Quantity Surveying at Liverpool John Moores University.

Jonathon is now employed at Study Quest, an international education agency that supports individuals from diverse backgrounds by guiding them through the various pathways to Higher Education in the UK.

The ESOL course at Hugh Baird College was the stepping stone I needed to progress onto better things. It helped me to better my English, which opened up a world of career opportunities for me. I was able to get back into education after arriving in the UK.

The tutors were so supportive and always made sure to catch up with me at the end of sessions to check in with me. They encouraged me and helped me find the balance between study and work.
